Daniele Barresi
is an internationally recognised carving artist, pastry chef, and creative designer known for transforming everyday materials into intricate sculptural works. Originally from Italy, Daniele trained professionally as a pastry chef, developing a strong foundation in precision, craftsmanship, and artistic presentation, skills that would later shape his unique approach to carving and sculpture.
At the age of 24, Daniele moved to Australia with the goal of improving his English and expanding his career internationally. Starting a new life in a new country came with many challenges, especially due to the language barrier. However, driven by determination and passion, he gradually built his path in both the culinary and artistic worlds.
Over time, Australia became more than just a place to work, it became home. Daniele fell in love with the country and the opportunities it offered, building his life from the ground up. Today he is a proud Australian citizen, a husband, and a father of two, having created both a family and a successful career after starting from zero.
Daniele is a two-time World Champion carving designer, having won prestigious international carving competitions in 2013 in Switzerland and 2014 in Luxembourg. These victories established him as one of the leading carving artists in the global culinary arts community. In 2015, following his international success, he was invited to Taiwan as a guest judge for one of the country’s most prestigious culinary competitions, recognising his expertise and influence in the field.
His list of accolades also includes Italian National Champion in Carving (2015), European Champion in Carving (2015) during the European Cruise competition, and Overall European Champion Artist (2015)—an extraordinary year that further cemented his reputation as a leading figure in the discipline.
What began as fruit and vegetable carving during his culinary training has evolved into a multidisciplinary artistic practice. Today Daniele works across a wide range of materials including soap, vegetables, cheese, chocolate, foam, resin, and other unconventional mediums. His work explores the intersection between culinary craftsmanship and contemporary sculpture, constantly pushing the boundaries of carving as an art form.
Over the years Daniele has collaborated with international brands and organisations, creating bespoke sculptures, installations, and live performances for clients such as Westfield, ustwo, Carnival Cruise Line, Woolworths, Klasse14, and Harris Farm Markets.
In 2019, Daniele was commissioned by Hilton in New York City, presenting a project in Manhattan in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Clean the World. For this initiative, he created a series of sculptural artworks made entirely from recycled soap, highlighting both the artistic potential of everyday materials and the importance of sustainability and recycling.
Daniele is also the founder of Eden Pasticceria, an artisan Italian pastry shop based in Five Dock, Sydney, NSW, Australia. Through Eden Pasticceria he combines traditional Italian pastry techniques with modern creativity and artistic presentation, reflecting the same dedication to detail that defines his sculptural work.
His creations have been featured on television programs across Australia, Italy, China, and the United States. His distinctive avocado carvings have also gone viral worldwide, captivating millions of viewers online and introducing a global audience to the art of contemporary food carving.
Daniele constantly strives to distinguish himself in everything he creates, always looking for ways to combine tradition with innovation. This creative approach is also reflected in his pastry work. During the past Christmas season, he introduced a unique concept that combined two iconic Italian desserts: the traditional panettone and the classic rum baba. The result was the Rum Baba Panettone, an original creation that quickly captured attention online, generating hundreds of thousands of views across social media.
The success of this idea not only showcased Daniele’s creativity but also strengthened the connection between his business and the local community. Today, Eden Pasticceria is widely recognised for its authenticity, quality, and dedication to traditional Italian pastry, earning the trust and appreciation of its growing community.
